The new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is the world’s first full hybrid among the compact sports sedans in the premium segment. One glimpse of its exterior is enough to reveal that the new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 stands for innovative drive systems and efficient dynamics.

Inspired by the rich model history of the BMW 3 Series, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 has a modern and powerful appearance. Combined with the headlights, the striking BMW kidney grille forms one unit and for the first time exploits its full effect from the side. Breadth and sporting character of the vehicle are highlighted. Precisely guided, ascending contours together with the forward-striving front that sweepingly transforms into the bonnet stand for pure dynamics. So too do the three-box design with long bonnet, short front overhangs, rear-set greenhouse and the flowing transition from curved roof line to shallow-sloping rear window.
Model logos on the tail, the C-pillars, in the interior and on the engine cover distinguish the vehicle visually from the BMW 3 Series. Optional 18-inch Aero wheel rims and the Liquid Blue paint finish underline the innovative standard. Further accents come from specific design features in the optionally available Modern Line: satin-finish aluminium window surrounds, side panels in high-gloss black, matt chrome exhaust pipe finishers and the BMW kidney grille with eleven slats in satin-finish aluminium all blend perfectly with the design features on the front and rear.
The interior of the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 with optionally available Modern Line impresses with its high-quality materials. The classical driver orientation creates the feeling of a cockpit. Hybrid-specific gauges on the instrument panel and Control Display together with important operating functions are ideally positioned for access.
The instrument panel opens up to the driver and allows convenient access to the controls. All design lines converge behind the steering wheel, thus guiding the driver’s view onto the road. On one side of the asymmetrical centre console, a change of decorative surfaces and grain highlights the driver’s section. The free-standing iDrive monitor with its slim, high-resolution display is positioned on the instrument panel and is reminiscent of ultra modern flatscreens.
The instrument panel and the light steering wheel in the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 with Modern Line provide optical highlights. When combined with leather covers or fabric/leather combinations in Oyster or Black and, as an option, three decorative surfaces with satin chrome accent trim strips, they create a world of colours to generate a feeling of well-being – and an extraordinary feature for this class of car. In particular, the Fineline Pure genuine wood design – styled in open-pored wood with three-dimensional surface structures – turns each touch into an experience for the senses.*
Discreet differences in design draw attention to the innovative drive concept: the model logo “ActiveHybrid 3” appears on the entry sill and the cover of the gear selection lever.

Functional boot concept.
The new BMW 3 Series Sedan was devised from the outset with hybrid technology and thus makes no compromises in terms of size and flexibility of the boot: its lithium-ion high-performance battery has been integrated beneath the floor of the luggage compartment with a space-saving and intelligent design.
Compared with the new BMW 3 Series Sedan using a conventional drive system, the rear section of the boot floor has only been raised by a few centimetres. This permits an almost unaltered, directly accessible boot volume.
The boot also retains its full versatility. Thanks to the optionally available foldable rear seat backrest featuring a 40:20:40 split with through-loading system, you can extend the boot and create space to transport large items in no time at all. As a result, you can easily stow your luggage for the next holiday – such as a ski bag – while at the same time enjoying the same full seating comfort as in the new BMW 3 Series with a conventional drive system.
